Learn about the new velocity feature in Dynamics 365 Fraud Protection

In this feature overview video series, we highlight new capabilities included in the latest update to Dynamics 365 Fraud Protection. Introducing Velocity detection as part of the 2021 release wave 1. Velocities can help answer questions such as how much money has a user spent in the last 1 hour? How many different credit cards have they used in the last 7 days? How many different accounts have been logged into from this one computer in the last 5 minutes? Providing insights into the historical patterns of an individual or entity to check for patterns of suspicious activity or potential fraud. Defining a new velocity is easy, simply navigate to the Velocities page and create a new velocity set. Each velocity consists of 3-4 statements: the type of aggregation, the event we want to observe, an optional condition, and the attribute or expression to group the values by. You can also begin with one of these pre-defined templates to help you get started. Once published, the velocities will begin aggregating data as events flow through Fraud Protection. Use velocities in your rules to help determine which events should be rejected, approved, challenged, or sent to manual review. To reference a velocity in a rule, simply select one by using the velocities keyword. You can select the key and the timeframe for the velocity and set a threshold for flagging the transactions. For example, to reject transactions coming from users who have made more than 10 purchases in the last day. Velocities also allow merchants to connect a user's behavior across different events.  For example, you can review a user ‘s login behavior when determining whether or not their purchase transactions should be approved. By enabling Velocity detection, you can make insightful event decisions based on both real-time event information and historical data patterns. Get the most out of Dynamics 365 Release plan
