10. Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Huawei’s newest Mate delivers the goods

Weight: 178g | Dimensions: 154.2 x 74.5 x 7.9mm | OS: Android 8.0 | Screen size: 6-inch | Resolution: 1080 x 2160 | CPU: Kirin 970 | RAM: 6GB | Storage: 128GB | Battery: 4000mAh | Rear camera: 20MP | Front camera: 12MP

Last year’s Huawei Mate 9 wowed a lot of people by being an incredibly impressive handset at an affordable price point. Thankfully, the Chinese phone maker has delivered an impressively premium follow up in the Mate 10 Pro.

The first thing you’ll notice about Huawei’s new flagship is its stunning 18:9 display. While the regular Mate 10 offers a higher native resolution than the Mate 10 Pro, with Mate 10 Pro is saddled with a maximum resolution that’s only slighter higher than FHD (1080 x 2160), its AMOLED display makes up for it with richer colours, deeper blacks and a brighter picture overall.

Thanks to its ongoing partnership with Leica, Huawei has once again a delivered class-leading dual camera setup for the Mate 10 Pro – even the most novice photographer can achieve professional-looking results. Combining a 12MP colour (RGB) sensor with a 20MP monochrome sensor allows users to take incredible depth-of-field shots and stark black and white photos of incredible detail.

One of the camera’s most impressive features is how it uses the dedicated NPU (neural processing unit) embedded on Huawei’s new Kirin 970 processor to automatically adjust your camera settings based on what you’re shooting – it can even tell the difference between cats and dogs!

Huawei handsets are known for their large and long-lasting batteries, and the Mate 10 Pro continues to uphold this reputation. Its huge 4,000mAh battery kept it going for around two days of regular use, which is something that most other phones can only dream of.

While we aren’t crazy about some of Huawei’s choices on the Mate 10 Pro (the microSD slot has been ditched, same with the headphone jack), we love its astonishing photographical prowess and beautiful new design.

Red Hydrogen One, the oft-delayed smartphone from the famed camera maker, is finally coming out, and in the US it will be coming to Verizon and AT&T.

Building off of the modular roots of the Moto Z, the Hydrogen One features a pogo pin system that will allow for add-ons that enhance the functionality of the phone over time. A high-end camera module has been rumored to launch for the phone, but we’ll likely see some predictable ones come at launch, like battery packs and speakers.

The real highlight of the Red Hydrogen One is its 5.7-inch holographic display. While not yet shown off to the public, those who have seen it in action claim that it’s the next big thing. Even Verizon’s press release echoes a similar sentiment: “you have to hold it in your hands and experience it yourself to understand why this is such a mobile game changer”.

When will it come out?

Verizon hasn’t shared a release date or, more importantly, a price for the Red phone. Released unlocked, the Hydrogen One may have been prohibitively expensive (as much as $1,295+ (around £950, AU$1,700), so tying it to a carrier will at least bring into the realm of affordability for most.

Recently, Red stated that the phone was delayed and now coming in August. However, the shift to launching on Verizon may push its release further into 2018 – or, who knows, cut it shorter.

The holographic display and other features on offer will really have to impress to make the Red Hydrogen One stick out in 2018. According to previous communications from Red’s CEO, this phone will pack in some 2017 tech, like the Snapdragon 835. A full spec sheet hasn’t been shared, but we expect to see more details soon.

As for what this means for the global audience, we’re not sure. Given that the phone is launching on both a CDMA and GSM carrier bodes well for its compatibility abroad, but it’s hard to say if Red will retain the ability to sell the phone unlocked through its own channels.

FA Cup final – where and when

The FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United will take place at football’s spiritual home – Wembley Stadium in London. UK football fans probably already know that coverage of the final will be on the BBC this year, but there are lots of other options around the world.

The game itself kicks off on Saturday May 19 at 5:15pm BST (12:15pm ET, 9:15am PT, 2.15am in Australia in the early hours of Sunday morning).

With the World Cup around the corner and the big Champions League final next weekend, it’s easy to forget that the UK domestic football season isn’t over yet. Well, apart from Chelsea and Man United fans that is. If you want your football fix this week then the FA Cup final on Saturday is the place to be – and you can live stream every minute for free and from wherever you are in the world.

It’s a repeat of the 2007 FA Cup final where the two teams faced each other, but there are some key differences eleven years on. Jose Mourinho helmed the victorious Chelsea that year, and will be hoping for glory once again but this time for his Manchester United eleven.

Despite 2nd and 5th place finishes in the league for United and Chelsea respectively, there’s a feeling for both sides that the 2017-18 season has been something of a disappointment. Neither did managed anything significant in Europe and Manchester City waltzed the Premiership title. But a big FA Cup final win could be the redemption that Mourinho and Antonio Conte need.

You can’t watch from the dugout, but you can watch all the FA Cup final action live and for free from whever on Earth you are. Below we’re going to talk you through the best ways to watch the FA Cup final around the UK and the rest of the world so you can ensure you live stream one of the biggest matches in the footballing calendar.

How to live stream FA Cup final in the UK for free:

The BBC will be hosting the FA Cup final on Saturday May 19. It’ll be on BBC One – naturally – and the coverage is set to start at 4.10PM with actual kick-off ready for 5:15PM.

You’ll be able to watch it live on TV, through the BBC iPlayer app or online with the iPlayer live stream. You’ll have to pay for a TV license if you want to watch this in the UK though. There’s also the BBC Sport website that will be live streaming the whole game in a similar way to the BBC One coverage too.

The alternative is to watch the game on TVPlayer.com, which requires no logins or hassle.

If you can’t live stream the FA Cup final as it happens then TVPlayer Plus will allows you to ‘record’ Chelsea vs Man United and watch it later. You’ll need to sign up for a paid account, but the good news there is that the site offers a 14-day free trial so no payment is required.

You can even install it on devices like an Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Xbox and PlayStation. So for a one-stop shop, you can’t go wrong with Express – but there are more fantastic VPN options out there as well:

If you don’t have access to Fox, you’ll be able to find it on Sling TV, DirectTV Now and Fubo Premier, but you’ll be paying separately for each of those services to be able to watch the game. Fubo Premier does offer a seven day trial, so you can always use that to watch the game and then be sure to cancel it again afterward.

You’ll be able to download The World Game app that’s produced by SBS and will show the game for free on either iOS or Android devices.
